We travelled to Colombia, my son and I, to visit my daughter. Just the three of us, meeting in a new world, no longer as parent and children but as people, each with our own rhythm, our own laughter, our own questions. There is something deeply magical about travelling with your adult children. About sharing not just a destination but moments that stay with you. Extreme poverty beside the comfort of our own lives. Waves crashing just metres from our door.
For me, this painting holds a trace of that magic. The brilliant colours, the quiet joy of simply being there. And the wonder of realising that I got to have this. That life gave me this.
